Once you have a worker, they will make arrangements to meet you. This could be at your home or at another location first if you prefer.
You can have a friend or family member there to support you. We know that answering lots of questions can be daunting. If you need to have a break, or prefer a few shorter meetings, let your worker know.
Our workers use an approach called ‘Ways to Wellbeing’. You can find out more about this here.
When your worker visits you, they will ask you questions about:
-
your life history
-
current situation
-
what you’re satisfied with
-
what is getting in the way.
-
how you’re managing in different areas of day to day life
-
what you can do
-
what you struggle with,
-
any support you already have in place.
Your worker might ask your permission to speak with friends or family members, and health and care staff who work with you.
In straightforward situations the assessment might be completed in one meeting. However the worker may ask to meet you again if the situation is more complex.
