Standards
- The facility must allow for privacy.
- All baths, showers, and wash hand basins must be equipped with taps providing an adequate supply of cold and constant hot water.
- All bathrooms must be suitably and adequately heated and ventilated.
- Bathrooms and toilets must be of adequate size and layout.
- They must be suitably located in or in relation to the living accommodation.
- Rooms should have adequate ventilation and electric lighting.
- Surrounding walls around baths, showers, and basins must have a non-porous, easily cleanable finish.
- A suitable locking mechanism must be fitted to ensure privacy.
- All fixtures must be fit for purpose.
- Where separate toilets are provided, a wash hand basin (WHB) must be fitted in or directly outside the compartment.
- For occupancy above the table, provide 1 separate toilet with WHB per 5 (or part thereof) additional occupiers.
- Also provide 1 bathroom with WHB and bath/shower per 5 (or part thereof) additional occupiers.
- Where reasonably practicable, for bedsits, individually let rooms, B&Bs, and hostels:
- Each letting must have a hand wash basin.
- If cooking facilities are provided in the room, a sink with cold and constant hot water must also be provided.
- Each WHB must have a suitable waste drainage connection.
