Cervical screening is a national screening programme which aims to reduce cervical cancer mortality by preventing cervical cancers from developing and diagnosing cervical cancers early15.
Many risk factors exist for cancers, and this is true for cervical cancer as well. Stopping smoking is a critical way to reduce cervical cancer risk, with 21% of cervical cancer incidence being due to tobacco consumption[37]. A separate JSNA for tobacco control in the borough exists.
