Management Arrangements
In deciding whether the proposed management arrangements for the house are satisfactory, the Council must be satisfied that:
- The person proposed to be responsible for managing the house has sufficient competency
- The proposed management structures and funding arrangements are suitable
The person(s) responsible for managing a licensable HMO may be required to attend a suitable training course, approved by the local authority, to demonstrate their competency and knowledge of housing and tenancy-related matters.
Approved training providers may include:
- National Landlords Association
- Residential Landlords Association
- DASH Services
- Other Local Authorities or independent providers
Management Statement
The intended licence holder must provide evidence of arrangements for the proper management of the property. This must include a statement detailing how the following matters will be addressed:
- Periodic inspection of the property (internally and externally) at intervals of at least every 6 months to identify repair or maintenance needs, and the measures to address them
- Planned maintenance programmes
- Measures to prevent or reduce anti-social behaviour by occupants or visitors
- Fire safety instructions for residents
