What is it?
The Early Years ‘Child Alert’ is a single point referral route designed to raise awareness of children aged between 0-5 years (preschool) who may require additional strategies or intervention at home or in preschool settings/schools. The mechanism aims to connect these children with the most appropriate offer that can best support their individual needs. Support, advice, guidance or training may be offered. The Early Years ‘Child Alert’ aims to ensure early intervention and appropriate signposting to either a universal, targeted or statutory offer.
Why is it needed?
To ensure that children reach Reception age with their needs being recognised and supported. Some children have complicated needs that may require additional support and resources other than that which is ordinarily available. This support will need to be carefully considered and planned for.
Who is my information shared with?
We may need to discuss your child’s information with partners. Sharing this in education, health, public health and care will help us to identify the most appropriate support service to meet your child’s individual needs.
