Housing Strategy 2023-2028

Homes are a basic human need and a vital part of people’s lives. Everyone deserves to have a safe, secure, affordable, and comfortable home to live in. Housing impacts our:

  • Health and wellbeing.
  • Access to education.
  • Access to employment.
  • Access to health services.

Quality housing is secure and stable for our children to grow up in. It also helps build strong communities.

Our Strategy sets out the what the Council and our partners will do for housing over the next five years.

It recognises the challenges that we face and adapts to the changes in national policy on housing, social care, and planning.

It is important we listen to our residents, so we have developed this Strategy by:

  • Using feedback from the Residents’ Survey.
  • Consulting with our tenants and stakeholders.

Doing so gave us some key areas that can allow us to consistently provide high-quality housing.

This Strategy will build a better North Tyneside and give our residents good quality housing that meets all their needs.
