Adult Social Care commissioning

What it is and what we do

Commissioning is the process of looking at the demand for care and support in the borough. We work out what support we must meet. Then we design, deliver, monitor and evaluate services to make sure those with care and support needs can achieve their goals.

What do we do?

We work with the Procurement Team and partners to buy services. This is for adults aged 18 to 64 and for those over the age of 65. This includes:

  • Support for people at home to help with personal care or daily living skills.

  • Supported housing options for people who need more support. This includes Extra Care or Independent Supported Living Schemes (ISLs).

  • Day care for people who are socially isolated and cannot access social groups without support.

  • Tailored support for people whose need for care and support is because of a physical or learning disability, or their mental health.

  • Drug and alcohol support for people living with addiction(s).

  • Support for carers to achieve their own goals so they can continue to care for someone as long as they want to.

  • Support alongside health partners for people being discharged from hospital, or with long-term health needs.

We commission services from the Community and Voluntary Sector (CVS), advocacy services and Healthwatch too.
