Confidentiality

Any disclosure of domestic abuse will be treated in the strictest of confidence however, under the General Data Protection Regulation; we have a duty to disclose information in order to:

  • Protect the victim;
  • Prevent harm to someone else, or
  • Prevent or detect a crime.

The Domestic Abuse Offender Disclosure Scheme, also known as Claire’s Law, allows the police to disclose to individuals the details of their partner’s or potential partners, abusive past in order that they can make an informed decision about their situation.
