What you can borrow

It is free to borrow books from the library and there are no fines for returning books late.

Adult standard membership

You can borrow:

  • 8 Books for 28 days
  • 8 Talking books for 28 days
  • 4 DVDs for 7 days

There may be charges for non-book items, and there are variations in loan periods for people with hearing or visual impairment or physical disabilities.

Adults - Love2Read

Adults with a Love2Read membership can borrow:

  • 20 Books for 28 days
  • 8 Talking books for 28 days
  • 4 DVDs for 7 days

Children

Children can borrow:

  • 8 Books for 28 days
  • or 8 Story CDs for 28 days

Childminder ticket

For child-minders, so that they can borrow books for their child-minder role as well as having a personal ticket.

  • You can borrow up to 15 books for 28 days

Carer ticket 

To support carers, who may not be able to get to a library as often due to caring responsibilities.  This includes foster carers.

  • You can borrow up to 62 books for 100 days

Extra support ticket 

To support those who may have a medical condition or other reason why they need extra support to use the library.

  • You can borrow up to 62 books for 100 days

No fixed address ticket

To support those who are homeless.

  • You can borrow 2 books and there are no charges for printing up to a limit of £5 per week

Home Educator ticket

For parents who home-school their children, so that they can borrow books for home education as well as having a personal ticket.

  • Borrowing allowance: up to 15 books for 28 days

Sanctuary ticket

For refugees and asylum-seekers. 

  • You can borrow up to 8 books for 28 days and there are no charges for printing up to a limit of £5 per week.
  • Free room bookings may be available for community groups and activities.
