Our intentions and priorities
Our intentions are based on what people who recieve care and support have told us is important to them. They include:
-
We ensure we understand the care market and ensure it is sustainable
-
We make sure any new contracts are good value for money
-
We invest in ways to prevent, reduce or delay care and support needs
-
We support people to live independently
-
We listen to the views of people with lived experience and their carers to inform our approach
Full details of ‘Our Commissioning Intentions 2023/24’ are here.
Our strategic priorities are agreed each financial year, at the same time we complete a directorate action plan. This plan is linked to our strategy which outlines the vision for adult social care, and is based around five priorities:
-
Prevent or reduce the need for long-term care, to maximise independence.
-
Providing the right support. in the right place, at the right time.
-
Ensuring safety from abuse or neglect.
-
A sustainable and skilled workforce.
-
Creating resilient, caring and inclusive communities.
