Adult Social Care commissioning

Our intentions and priorities

Our intentions are based on what people who receive care and support have told us is important to them. They include:

  • We ensure we understand the care market and ensure it is sustainable
  • We make sure any new contracts are good value for money
  • We invest in ways to prevent, reduce or delay care and support needs
  • We support people to live independently
  • We listen to the views of people with lived experience and their carers to inform our approach

Our strategic priorities are agreed each financial year, at the same time we complete a directorate action plan. This plan is linked to our strategy which outlines the vision for adult social care, and is based around five priorities:

  • Prevent or reduce the need for long-term care, to maximise independence.
  • Providing the right support. in the right place, at the right time.
  • Ensuring safety from abuse or neglect.
  • A sustainable and skilled workforce.
  • Creating resilient, caring and inclusive communities.
