Potholes January 2021 - January 2024

  1. How many unfixed potholes are there currently recorded under the council authority?

 

The highways team do not log individual potholes, all reactive minor carriageway-related defects are recorded using a common reporting category (road repairs). Although the majority of these will be potholes, some will overlays or larger patch type repairs.

 

As of 25 January 2024, there were 52 outstanding reactive road repair jobs, most of which will be potholes.

 

  1. How much has the council spent on pothole repairs in the last 3 years - can this be broken down by year? (From January 2021-December 2023) - Up to and including any data held for January 2024.

 

2021: £153,362.82

2022: £104,827.76

2023: £155,062.74

2024 (up to 25 January 2024): £7,326.64

 

  1. How much has the council paid out in compensation claims and legal fees relating to vehicle damage caused by potholes since Jan 2022-Dec 2023 (up to and including any data held for Jan 2024)?

 

£2,706.69 was paid out in compensation for damage to vehicles. No legal fees were paid.
