Guitarist and founding member of The Animals. 21 May 1943-29 January 2021. Born in North Shields and lived here 1944-1960.
Recognised for composing one of the most famous rock intros of all time for the No 1 hit "House of the Rising Sun". Inductee Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 1994 & Hollywood’s Rock Walk of Fame 2001. Paid homage to his roots in his song River Tyne & his album Skiffledog on Coburg St.
