If you’re involved in farming:
- Register any livestock with the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).
- Ensure sick animals are reported and checked.
- Vaccinate livestock.
- In the event of an outbreak, follow government advice.
As a member of the public:
- Abide by government restrictions intended to limit the spread of the disease e.g., rural footpaths being closed, etc.
- If you suspect a notifiable animal disease, report it immediately to the DEFRA Rural Services Helpline on 03000 200 301. You can read information about notifiable diseases in animals.
