Where to look for book recommendations

North Tyneside Libraries have around 300,000 books that are free to borrow for all ages and abilities.

For children, these include board books, picture books, graphic novels, younger stories, young adult fiction and information books suitable for all ages from birth to teens.

We have books that will appeal to every child regardless of age or reading ability, including a Dyslexia Friendly collection, dual-language picture books and Reading Well for Young People.

For adults, we cover all genres, from Crime to Horror, LGBTQ+ to Western, classics to contemporary.

For those who struggle to read standard print, there are collections of Large Print books and books on CD.  Our digital Borrowbox service also offers a range of e-books, e-audio, e-newspapers and magazines that you can read using the accessibility features on your own device.
