Changes to your benefits
If you get
- Pension Credit
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- income related Employment and Support Allowance
let us know when:
- your circumstances change and you stop receiving one of these benefits
- you change your address
- anyone moves in or out of your property
- your non-dependant has a change in circumstances
- you stop receiving Child Benefit for any of your children
- your rent changes, unless you live in a council property
- your capital exceeds £16000 unless you receive Guarantee Credit
If you get Pension Credit tell the Pension Service about any change in income or capital for you or your partner. They will then notify us if the change affects your entitlement to Pension Credit.
If you get
- Income Support
- income-based Jobseekers Allowance
- income related Employments and Support Allowance
tell the Department for Work and Pensions about any changes in income and capital for you or your partner.
They will re-assess your entitlement to Income Support or income-based Jobseekers Allowance.
Other changes
If you don’t get one of these benefits let us know when:
- there is a change in income or capital for yourself or your partner

- your non-dependant has a change in circumstances
- you stop receiving Child Benefit for any of your children
- your rent changes — unless you live in a council property
If you are unsure whether we need to know about a change in circumstances please ask for advice at one of our Customer Service Centres or telephone 0345 2000 101.
If you don't report changes quickly you might get a large overpayment that you must pay back to us.
Notify us of any change
Report changes as soon as possible so that you continue to receive the correct amount of housing benefit or council tax support. Let us know within a month or you could lose some of your entitlement.
